Our Sunday School program seeks to reinforce the scripture presented during our services and invites students to explore their faith in a positive, self-affirming environment.

Classes
Our classes take place from 9:00 am - 9:45 am at St. Mark's House. The classes are organized by age with age-appropriate themes and activities.

  • Pre-K through Kindergarten
  • Grades 1 & 2
  • Grades 3 & 4
  • Grades 5 & 6
  • Grades 7 - 9

Each class takes place in it's own room dedicated for this purpose. Class sizes range from 6 - 12 students.  Consequently, they are all large enough to be lively and interactive, but small enough so that each student has plenty of opportunity to participate.

        Curriculum
All classes are based on the "Living the Good News Curriculum", which is a lectionary based program. This means that the scripture and activities introduced during the class are the same ones presented at the service.

This unified approach provides families with the opportunity to explore common topics at home.

"Living the Good News" recognizes and supports the different learning styles of students masterfully. The lesson plans are jam-packed with ideas for discussion and activities that connect with our youth and reinforce the rich teachings of the Bible.

        Christmas Pageant
During the month of December, the standard classes and curriculum are put "on hold" as all classes come together to rehearse for our annual Christmas Pageant, which is a re-enactment of the nativity.  This is a wonderful opportunity to bring all classes together as a single community to celebrate this joyous, exciting event.

        Teachers
Our teachers range in experience from just starting out to having over 40 years of experience! They each share a common bond in their joy for sharing the Good News with children in a supportive and caring environment.

Our superintendent, Elise Byrom, has a strong ministry related to children.

        Thinking of Joining?
Because the curriculum is lectionary based, students can join in at any time without feeling like they have to "catch up." If you are considering enrolling a student please contact Elise Byrom or send and email to her at SundaySchool@stmarksleominster.org to register.
